Septic systems require active bacteria to function properly. The action of the bacteria breaks down solids in the septic tank and transforms them to liquid form. This liquid is then allowed to flow out of the tank into the leach field or dry well for natural filtering and purification. The problem arises when a septic system is used in a household or other installation where chlorinated and fluorinated municipal water is supplied. Both chlorine and fluorine are lethal poisons that kill the bacteria in the tank. This means constant addition of bacteria is needed.
Formula Septic System Bacteria is a super-strong concentration of the necessary bacteria, about 10 times stronger than most commercial store-bought brands. For most households, 2 to 3 tablespoons per week introduced through a toilet is sufficient to keep the tank working at its best. An additional tablespoon may be used when a washing machine uses the same tank.
