The use of seaweed as a fertilizer and soil conditioner is almost as old as agriculture itself. When incorporated into the soil, seaweed releases organic matter and trace elements enhancing both soil structure and fertility. With modern technology, the active ingredients of seaweed can now be extracted. In this form it can be quickly dissolved and used as a foliar spray. This makes it 7 to 10 times more effective than when applied to the soil, and up to 20 times more effective than kelp meal when applied to very sandy or low humus soils. FORMULA SOLUBLE SEAWEED EXTRACT is a marine plant product processed from 100% pure Ascophyllum Nodosum, a North Atlantic Ocean cold salt water seaweed considered to be the finest marine plant available for agricultural use. It is chelated and 100% available to the plant. The energy it imparts to the plant is effective in warding off pests and disease.
One pound mixes into each gallon of water to make a concentrate solution. Then 1 to 2 quarts per acre, or 2 ounces per gallon of water in a pump sprayer, is foliar fed. Can be applied at a higher rate to lawns with a hose-end sprayer.
